Why do this?
Why is indeed the question, and it's a simple one to answer. To preserve history.
It's also because there's no Steam Workshop for the original Portal. When Portal was originally released back in 2007, Workshop obviously wasn't a thing. You had to share your own maps and map packs manually on your own site or third-party sites. (E.x. Thinking with Portals, myApertureLabs, etc.)
Unfortunately, most of those Portal-aimed sites no longer exist, with the popular one somewhat still alive (pun intended) being Thinking with Portals. And with these maps spread across the Internet, there's no real "central" location for hosting all original Portal maps that you can download with a snap... until now.
This site will serve as a central location to browse and download all known Portal 1 maps and map packs of the past, present, and future.
Is it really "complete"?
Well... not really. It will never be a "complete pack", because there's always more content to make for Portal, and there are maps we have lost to time. So it should really be called the "Almost-Complete Portal Pack", but that just sounds awkward.
